Metric Parking Division wins competitive bid to supply 20 Aura Pay by Space meters to Norristown, PA.

Mount Laurel, NJ, July 28, 2011 – Metric Parking which has been producing machines for the parking industry for over 30 years has just been awarded a contract with Norristown, PA for 20 Aura Pay by Space machines to be used for parking control in a four-block area around the courthouse. The competitive bid won by Metric is for supplying parking machines as well as separate contracts for maintenance and Metric’s ASLAN back office system.

Installation of the 20 parking machines will begin late summer. These 20 machines will replace 63 single space parking meters, and add 70 new parking spaces in the local area.
The Aura machines will initially accept coins and paper money for payment though the intention is for credit cards to be accepted in the future.

The council has increased parking fees to $2 per hour around the courthouse and to $1.50 per hour elsewhere in the municipality.  Officials estimate $252,000 in new parking revenue will be generated over a one year period with about $60,000 expected before the end of the year.
