Metric Parking Division moves and expands its U.S. operations.

Mount Laurel, NJ, September 30, 2009 – Metric Parking which has been producing machines for the parking industry for over 30 years is in the process of moving and expanding their US operations to Mount Laurel, NJ.

With a recent large contract from the Philadelphia Parking Authority and the continued demand for the Metric Aura products and services, the Metric Parking Division of Metric Group Inc. are moving their US headquarters from Cranbury NJ to Mount Laurel NJ and tripling the size of their facility. The 15,000 square foot facility in Mount Laurel allows for additional inventory of products, housing for our increasing US staff, and provides the space to grow with our market needs. The complete move is expected to be completed by December of this year.

Dave Witts, President of Metric Group Inc. says, “Our business has grown significantly over the past year, and our staff and facility had to keep up with the market demands. A recent contract award from the Philadelphia Parking Authority added to our justification to move closer to the city of Philadelphia and drive our requirements for a larger facility. In addition to Philadelphia, we have had several other large orders this past year that required us to increase inventory of machines and parts for our customers. This larger inventory allows us to provide better lead times to our customers. Additionally the new facility provides the space required to expand our US offerings and service packages. We are looking forward to continued growth over the years and are now ready to meet the ever changing requirements of our customers”

Metric Aura Pay by Space units upgrades the Lancaster City on-street parking program.

Cranbury, NJ, May 13, 2009 – Metric Parking which has been producing machines for the parking industry for over 30 years has recently been awarded through a competitive process the 1st phase in upgrading the Lancaster City on-street paid parking program. The installation of 20 Aura Pay by Space units, with the Metric ASLAN back office provides the Lancaster Parking Authority an effective way to manage on-street parking and replace aging single space meters that were previously used. The solar Aura units are equipped to take coins, bills or credit card as payment, and utilize Metric Space ALERT system for enforcement. The Lancaster Parking Authority has also elected to accept tokens and smart cards as payment in the future. A patron can pay at any meter in the city for their space.
In the next few weeks, Metric and Lancaster Parking Authority crews will prepare multispace parking meters for installation in several downtown blocks. More than a dozen of the meters are expected to be operational by the first week of June. This is part of the city streetscape improvements project, and allowing the flexibility of multiple forms of payment for parking patrons. A total of 20 multispace meters will be installed, replacing about 150 single meters in the downtown business district. About 800 single meters throughout the city will continue to operate as usual.
Tom Matthews, executive director of Lancaster Parking Authority states “At some point in time, we have all found ourselves digging in pockets, purses and even under the car seat for change to plug a parking meter. In a few weeks those days will be eliminated in the Central Business District of the City of Lancaster, PA. The new multi space meter stations will provide much needed flexibility and convenience for our patrons. The use of Coin, Notes, Tokens, Credit Cards and eventually Smart Cards will eliminate patrons from searching for those coins. Also, No More running back to a meter to add time, the new Pay By Space meter stations allows patrons to add time at any meter station. The Parking Authority, the City and even the Parking Enforcement Aides are excited about the new technology and opportunities for more efficiency”.

Parking spaces will be identified by numbers painted on the street, and signs will alert motorists to the machines. Once time for a space is purchased, drivers will not have to go back to their vehicle to place the receipt on the windshield — a standard practice in many places that use multispace meters. Another added feature and benefit to the parking patrons is time can be added from any multispace meter in the city, and not requiring the patron to return to their car.
Dave Witts, President of Metric Group Inc. says, “Our proven ability to offer a flexible pay by space solutions and aesthetically appealing meter allows our solution to be used cities and towns do re-development. The Aura product line continues to be the choice in many cities for these types of upgrade projects. We look forward to helping Lancaster succeed in their city streetscape improvement project”.

Metric Aura Pay by Space units upgrade the City of Lowell's on-street parking program.

Cranbury, NJ, March 3, 2009 – Metric Parking which has been producing machines for the parking industry for over 30 years has recently completed in conjunction with Amano McGann’s Boston office the 1st phase in upgrading the City of Lowell’s on-street paid parking program. The installation of 35 Aura Pay by Space units, with the Metric ASLAN back office provides the City of Lowell’s Parking office an effective way to manage on-street parking and replace aging single space meters that were previously used. The solar Aura units are equipped to take coins or credit card as payment, and utilize Metric Space ALERT system for enforcement.  A patron can pay at any meter in the city for their space.

This project is part of Lowell’s rehabilitation program for the fourth largest city in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This planned urban community is built around the Merrimack River and diverse canal system which provided power to the early manufacturers. Today, these 19th century mill buildings have provided an opportunity for low cost acquisition and rehabilitation for small and large companies. Additionally there is a large education base in Lowell with recent competition of nine new schools and five school rehabilitations.  This growth further enhances the market for retail businesses in downtown Lowell and bringing more business into the city core. As the downtown has re-developed, the requirement for a secure and user friendly parking system was needed.

Chuck Carney, Director of Parking Services wants to provide the City of Lowell’s customers with a clean, safe, and customer friendly parking environment, with emphasis on quality of facilities and services in a professional business management atmosphere. With the local support from Amano McGann, the Aura units were installed, maintained and function to meet the requirements of the City of Lowell and their customers. Amano McGann has provided outstanding support in the early phases of this project and worked closely with Metric Parking to ensure the customer’s requirements were met.

Chuck Carney states  “The overall reliability and efficiencies that the City of Lowell has realized with the Metric Aura product has been outstanding. Our customer feedback
on the various features and ease of use, has also been very positive. The Pay by Space system was especially well received by our customers in this year’s long cold New England winter when they did not have to go back to their automobile and put a parking receipt in their windshield. The credit card payment option has also improved our revenue efficiencies in just the short time we have had Metric units installed.
The service we have received from Amano McGann has further strengthened
Our partnership on this successful project. “

Dave Witts, President of Metric Group Inc. says, “Our proven ability to offer a flexible pay by space solutions, with a strong local partner was important to participate in this project with the City of Lowell. When cities and towns do re-development, they want a product that fits in well with their streetscape, and the Aura was just the product”.

Metric Parking chosen for on-street parking program in Asbury Park, NJ

Metric Parking which has been producing machines for the parking industry for over 30 years has recently been awarded a contract to supply 32 Metric Accent 3 Pay by Space machines for Phase I of the City’s parking implementation program. This will be the 1st fully implemented on-street pay by space project on the Jersey shore.

Asbury Park is accustomed to being an early adopter to new technologies, James Bradley had the first telephone installed in his home at the corner of Main Street and Mattison, and this residential resort was one of the earliest to have an electric street car system. In 1973 Bruce Springsteen debuted his first record album, Greetings from Asbury Park. Over the years Asbury Park has been known for entertainment as well with the historic Paramount Theater, and this year was listed by USA Weekend as one of the Top 10 Places to hear the best of America’s music.

With all this history, the city wants to remain a target destination for many people. Currently the city is in the midst of a tremendous redevelopment effort that includes all areas of the city. Part of this project is the modernization of its parking meters, many of which have outlived their usefulness and no longer work. The current plan is to use the Metric meters for on-street parking in the waterfront, downtown, and on Main Street. The Metric meters will offer the user the ability to pay with coins, bills, and credit cards. These solar powered meters will be linked to a back office for enforcement, statistical reports and operational status. Additionally the system will allow the user to pay at any meter in the city for their space without having to go back to their car or that area the car is parked in. The city will also be installing meters on the boardwalk to allow beach goers to add time to their space without leaving the beach or their family.

The city has also set up a parking utility, not an independent parking authority, as the accounting mechanism for the new meters.
